Photos from Houston as we settle in for the Storm

Some photos from Friday morning in Houston Texas on Friday September 12th. The outer bands of Hurricane Ike should be reaching us in an hour or 2.

This photo above has a tattoo shop on Westheimer that is using the exact same plywood as they did in 2005 for Hurricane Rita (See the old photo here).

This morning me and my girlfriend packed up some food and clothes and have come out to my grandmas place in Bellaire to wait out Hurricane Ike. The media headline here are terrifying; Galveston has been assured "Certain Death", there will be a twenty foot plus storm surge, its now to late to get food, water or gas most places.

The streets are not as deserted as during Hurricane Rita, it seems as though the majority of people have decided to stay in Houston this time, the freeways out of town never got clogged and the traffic on surface streets is on par with a lazy sunday, as opposed to the totally empty streets of 2005.

The storm has not veered off of its course, it seems likely that the eye of the storm will go straight through Harris County. Hopefull folks have evacuated Galveston and low lying parts of Harris County, and the damage to human life and property is minimal.

We'll post something tommorow if we have power. Peace and stay safe.
