People arrived hoping to be able to protest Ulises Ruiz, the governor of Oaxaca, but he didn't come. The protesters took the opportunity to send a message to the other Mexican governors in support of human rights and political prisoners. Here are some of their messages.

Many groups from Houston, Austin and the Dallas area are here today to protest the CONAGO meeting. We each have our own statements.

As a Texas member of the Friends of Brad Will, I am here today to demand justice for Brad, to demand that Ulises Ruiz be removed from office, to demand freedom for all political prisoners, and to demand justice for all the many groups that Brad supported, including the people of Oaxaca.

For the same reasons as Mexican Nationals work for immigration rights in the U.S., we too must support the Popular People's Movement in Oaxaca. Dignity for all oppressed peoples is the hope for anyone in a 'free society.'

I stand in solidarity with the oppressed people of Oaxaca and their struggle for liberty and justice.
