June 5 - Legal update for ICE protest
by Renee Feltz Tuesday, Jun. 05, 2007 at 2:11 PM

Two young protesters have been released after their arrest Monday outside Houston's Immigrant Processing Center.

Ben Browning and 18 year old Ashley Turner left jail in the wee hours of this morning.

The two were charged with misdemeanor criminal
tresspass for using u-locks to fasten their bodies to the entrance and exit gate of a privately run detention center used by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE.

While in jail, they were charged with an additional offense - Felony manufacture of a criminal instrument. The instrument? A u-lock.

They have a court hearing Wednesday morning at 8am in District Court #182, in the Harris County Criminal Courthouse at 1301 Franklin.

Supporters hope to raise funds for ongoing legal costs. They've posted details on http://www.houston.indymedia.org.
