by Liliana Castillo Friday, Feb. 02, 2007 at 11:03 AM

Fundraiser for Trip to Chiapas. Please join us this Valentines Day for an alternative holiday celebration. Let's show love and support to those struggling in other places and embrace the true meaning of Valentines Day. It's not just about couples, chocolate, roses, or bears it's about love for the fellow neighbor and friend.

When: Valentines day Feb. 14th 2007

Where: Bohemeo's Cafe (http://www.bohemeos.com)
708 Telephone Rd.
Houston, TX

Time: 6pm-10pm

Fundraiser: Trip to Chiapas Mexico this summer for the encounter with the Zapatistas. A group from Houston plans to go to Chiapas Mexico this summer and there is a need for funds for the trip to happen. This fundraiser is an event in which everyone will experience that Valentine's Day is not about commercial propaganda or consumption but instead about love for the fellow indi@/brother/sister/neighbor. We invite all of the supporters of human rights and the Zapatistas to bring their dates and family.
You may ask yourself why anti-capitalist/commercial/consumption well we must take a look at the poverty in other countries. We are making the event center around the Zapatistas because they are a prime example of what capitalism can inspire: the forming of an autonomous community that lives off of the land.
So join us for an evening with Chuy Negrete, DJ Joe B. & E from the Rebel Crew Music,
****music, poetry, guitar, tales, versus, crafts, and much more.****
$5 dollar suggested donation but no one will be turned away
Bring your own drinks: sets ups available for purchase
