Testimony from a protester at the Halliburton shareholder's meeting.

This morning, activists from all over Texas and the nation converged in the belly of the beast, Houston, TX. We said 'no' to war and 'yes' to holding war profiteers accountable. The morning started out at 8am for some activists sleeping in the hotel. Three groups from one room raised hell in the lobby and outside ballroom of the hotel. Activists in the restuarant met chants with four activists on the staircase. Security was littered around the lobby and approached three people I was with on the staircase and separated us quickly. I walked out the front door, no problem, and met with the crowd accross the street. A group of us caught word of the arrests, happening in the back of the hotel. We watched seven people get arrested. The horse cops pushed us from the curb near the arrests, put up police tape, and escorted us to the other side of the street. Peaceful singing and corporate slander rang through the streets and a second march began. We circled the block. As the activists rounded back towards the hotel, horse cops rode between them, and trampled a couple. The protesters gathered at the park across the street for a bit, made their way to the huge paper mache cow and pushed it into the street. Horse cops started riding into the cow and through the park, chasing a few protesters. After things calmed, speeches were made as well as announcements about the benefit at Helios and the MAXXAM shareholders meeting on May 25th.
