Texan Muslims for Islamic Change Dismayed at Terrorist Lable for Al Manar

TM4C is dismayed that the US State Dept wants to declare Al Manar a "terrorist organisation" in order to remove it from American airwaves and considers it to bean assault on people's rights.

Texan Muslims for Islamic Change Dismayed at Terrorist Lable for Arabic Satellite TV Channel
The US State Department and Department of Treasury are
planning to declare Al Manar a "terrorist organisation"
in order to remove the Arabic-language Islamic TV channel
from American airwaves. Texan Muslims for Islamic Change
is dismayed at this development and considers it to be
part of the American government's assault on Constitutional
rights. To prevent access to media outlets flies in the
face of the First Amendment of the Constitution, which
states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an
establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise
thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the
press...". According to international law as stated by
the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN
International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights,
all persons have "the freedom to seek...information and
ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, ... through
any other media of his choice" (Article 19 of each treaty).
The ban would also defy Islamic principles, which call
for the pursuit of knowledge throughout one's life and
the dissemination of knowledge. Texas Muslims for Islamic
Change hopes that the American government returns to the
job of protecting the US Constitution by ceasing to
destroy it and calls on citizens and residents of the United
States, as well as Muslims around the world, to voice their
concerns to the appropriate parties.
