Pro-War rally downtown

The right-wingers held their rally downtown today at Jones Plaza. Indeed they had a larger group than the anti-war rally on Feb. 15th. This is no doubt due to the fact that it was promoted over KPRC radio, which has a much larger listenership than KPFT radio, which was the only station to promote the Feb. 15th rally.
It was the usual fare of God, guts and country that we've seen before, featuring Rep. Tom "the Hammer" DeLay and Houston City councilmember Michael Berry, who had voted against the "peace resolution" this past week in city council. (NB - the local Republicans have drafted their own resolution for city council to adopt. I don't know if a councilmember will propose it to the mayor.)
Also on hand for the event today was Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, an outspoken opponent of Bush's war, who was horribly booed at the rally. Some people had signs opposing her.
Several counterdemonstrators showed up, including a man who burned copies of the Confederate flag. I was dressed conservatively and managed to disable the sound system several times. What a hoot!
